Everything you need to know about Blue Light Card

Blue Light Card is the discount service exclusively for frontline workers and volunteers from the emergency services, healthcare, aged care and the defence force.

We are proud to support our members by providing best-in-market offers and discounts on products, services and experiences from national retailers and local businesses. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the people who are there for us when we need them most.

Our proud history

We’re new to Australia, but Blue Light Card has been saying ‘thank you’ to frontline workers overseas for almost 15 years.

Our story began in the UK in 2008, when Blue Light Card was founded by former police officer Steve Denny and his childhood best friend Tom Dalby. Steve and Tom wanted to acknowledge the frontline workers who are always there for us by offering them benefits and discounts on items and services that would make life just a little bit easier.

The idea took off quickly. Since then, Blue Light Card has built a community of 2.6 million frontline worker members in the UK, who benefit from exclusive discounts offered by 16,500 businesses. These offers saved members a whopping £100 million in the past year alone.

Now we’re bringing these discounts and rewards to eligible Australians. We want to show our appreciation to frontline workers and volunteers, and empower Australian businesses to do the same. It’s our way of showing the Blue Light Community how much they’re valued.

How does Blue Light Card work?

Eligible frontline workers and volunteers can become Blue Light Card members by signing up online. The card costs $9.95 as a one-off payment, for two-year membership.

Members get access to the free, easy-to-use app, which gives frontline workers and their family up-to-the minute details on our latest best-in-market discounts, offers and experiences. Being able to shop and save on-the-go means no member misses out.

We want to make it as easy as possible for our members to reap the rewards of doing an incredible job, day in, day out – from significant savings on the everyday to once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Plus, Blue Light Card sits independently of any salary sacrificing schemes or employer benefits. This means you can still gain all the pre-tax benefits of any existing benefits you have through salary packaging, and still get extra savings through Blue Light Card too.

Why is Blue Light Card different from other discount cards?

Blue Light Card always provides best-in-market offers. This means our members can access discounts from retail partners that are higher than the general public could get. It’s why we pride ourselves on creating an exclusive community and verify every member’s eligibility. Our retail partners want the opportunity to recognise and reward the commitment of those workers and volunteers who are here for us when we need it most.

Our discounts and deals are handpicked – we aim to provide a wide choice of discounts on products, services and activities from big brands and local businesses. They’re designed to be easily accessible both online and through Australian retailers, so frontline workers can use them easily in their local community. There’s something for everyone: whether it’s holidays, shopping, days out, fashion, gifts and more, our members can save on the things they need, want and enjoy.
